Cornhole for Cancer Survivors! The SAMFund is Coming to Chicago!

October 25th, 2009 · Comments

Is it Wednesday yet? I am counting down the days until The SAMFund comes to Chicago!

Play cornhole and help young adult survivors

move forward with their lives after cancer!

Check out this social media release – you can spread the word with a press of a button – tweet about it, post it on Facebook - tell your Chicago friends to come play Cornhole for Cancer Survivors on Wednesday October 28th, 2009 from 7 – 10 pm.

Besides a great night featuring a round robin bags/cornhole tournament coordinated by Bags on Tap, there will be also CASH prizes, a raffle and a silent auction with great prizes including: a Mystery Murder Maniacs party for 20, an Odyssey Dinner Cruise, VIP White Sox Tickets, and many more.

Make new friends!

I am so excited to meet Samantha Watson, a co-founder of Surviving And Moving Forward: The SAMFund for Young Adult Survivors of Cancer and a two-time survivor of cancer herself.  Sam and I have yet to meet, but we have already formed an instant friendship.  It seems like we’ve known each other for ages and lived parallel lives: Sam went to college at Brandeis with my husband, works with my father-in-law, and she has Vermont roots – Sam moved from Manhattan to Manchester, VT while in high school and Josh & I were married at Hildene in the summer of 2008!  Fate brought us together and we will finally meet on Wednesday!

Over the past four years, The SAMFund has awarded a total of $400,000 in grants and scholarships to individuals across the country.  Each recipient has an amazing story to share, and you can meet some of these inspiring young adults at The SAMFund’s Cornhole for Cancer Survivors Bags Tourney event at Joe’s Bar (940 W. Weed Street) in Chicago.

I ask you to come if you can, and if you aren’t able to be there with us please support us in spirit!  If you would like to contribute a prize for the raffle or auction, if you would like to volunteer photo 0r video services, or if you would like to help plan a future SAMFund event please contact me!

Follow #samfundchi on twitter for event updates and please spread the word! Check back throughout the week for more SAMFund stories!
